Tree Pruning Workshop at Belfast City Park

Please join members of the Belfast Garden Club and Carol Herwig (instructor) for a Pruning Workshop to learn hands-on how to prune ornamental trees and shrubs.

We will demonstrate how and why plants respond to seasonal care, talk a bit about tools and safety, and then prune the park’s beautiful Allee of flowering Crabapple trees. The trees were planted and are cared for by the Belfast Garden Club.

Please dress in layers, to stay warm, with gloves, sturdy shoes, eye protection water, and whatever pruning tools you have (labeled with your name). Especially needed are pole pruners, telescoping clippers, hand pruners, rakes, and tarps for brush.

Parking: Please park on the shoulder of Northport Avenue because the park gates will not be open.

Weather: It looks like we will have a nice day. If the weather changes dramatically, we will postpone to Wednesday, March 20th at 1:00 PM.
